What we publish
We publish UK cost guides, interactive calculators, labour-rate references, material and site-supply benchmarks, and regional planning pages. The current library is organised into 9 topic hubs and 14 regional hubs.
How our estimates work
We separate external benchmark data from UK Home Costs modelling assumptions. A source may provide a national price range, day rate or cost per square metre. A calculator can then apply project inputs such as size, specification, condition and region. Those adjustments are planning assumptions rather than claims that a specific contractor will quote that amount.
Where the numbers come from
The current source library contains 74 dated records. Guides map important price claims to those source records. We use official UK data where it is suitable and recent industry cost guides for practical project benchmarks. Each detailed guide shows the sources used where direct mapping is available.
Regional pricing
Home improvement prices vary around the UK. Our regional model is deliberately shown separately from observed source data. Location pages explain the factor used and describe their figures as modelled planning ranges, not city-wide average quotations.
What UK Home Costs is not
The site does not provide contractor quotations, surveying advice, structural design, legal advice or a guarantee of final project cost. A calculator is a starting point for budgeting before obtaining site-specific professional advice and itemised local quotes.
Updates and corrections
High-intent pages are reviewed against newer source data and material scheme changes. When an underlying benchmark changes, we aim to update connected calculators and related guides together rather than allowing conflicting figures to remain across the site.
